Size of the median droplet (in microns) for a sprayed volume. Half of the volume is made up of droplets smaller than the VMD; half is made up of droplets larger.
Percentage of volume which is likely to drift. 141µ is now replacing 200µ as the new standard for driftable fines.
Percentage of volume which is likely to drift. 200µ is shown for reference. 141µ is used as the new standard for driftable fines.
Percentage of volume which is made up of ‘useful’ droplets. As the distribution of useful droplets lowers, overall coverage is reduced.
This is the pressure to be maintained for sprayer application. Pressure at the tip will differ from the listed pressure, but Tip Wizard does compensate for pressure loss through plumbing.
The speed range shown provides the minimum and maximum recommended sprayer speed, provided the required flow rate and droplet size. If the speed range is shown in red, the req’d flow rate cannot be achieved at requested max speed.
Duty cycle is how long the PWM solenoid stays open during its pulse interval to attain the required flow rate and pressure. Operating outside of a 100% duty cycle will result in under application of chemical. Operating at duty cycles too low (ie. <30% duty cycle) have the potential to result in missed coverage. Ideal duty cycle would be ~70% duty cycle; which, would allow for adjustment of +/- 30% of the flow rate to compensate for slowing down or speeding up (or turning).
ER tips do not have a pre-orifice. SR tip caps may have pre-orifices that do not match the cap color. MR and DR tip caps have pre-orifices that match the cap color. Pre-orifices included in tips are required for drift reduction as well as to regulate flow consistently. For high flow applications (-08 tips and larger) use long-stem pre-orifices, as they do not require strainers.
Combo-Jet® tip-caps use a radialock o-ring seal to secure the cap to the nozzle body. An adapter must be used to mount a Combo-Jet® tip-cap on a non-radialock nozzle body.
For tips smaller than ‘-015’, a 100 mesh strainer is recommended (#40251-00). For tips larger than ‘-02’, a 50 mesh strainer is recommended (#40250-00). For tips ‘-08’ or larger, a strainer is not required.
Droplet size categories (e.g. coarse, medium, etc.) do not provide accurate depictions of the ideal droplet size for best application or efficacy. Tip Wizard provides VMD to give means to pick a tip-cap for best efficacy. Tip Wizard also provides the ASABE category classification as reference.
